Hawks Nest & Steward Street Parks Campaigns
Client
City of Hanahan
The City of Hanahan had been landlocked for years, unable to meet the growing demand for recreational spaces and organized athletics and activities. All that changed with creating two world-class parks—Hawks Nest and Steward Street. The city turned to K. Hope Creative to develop capital campaigns, marketing materials, and a community awareness & engagement plan.
Getting to know the parks was our first order of business. We utilized our Discovery Phase to understand better their locations, sizes, features, differences, and the city’s goals for funding and promotion. We explored potential donors, naming opportunities, and a timeline for generating awareness.
Because Hanahan is fast becoming a top hometown destination for families, businesses, and sports, the parks are major enhancements to the already popular “heart of the Lowcountry.” As a result, we created separate campaign themes: “Home, Haven & Heart” for Hawks Nest, a 56-acre recreation haven, and “Adventures in Serenity” for Steward Street, a waterfront destination with fishing and kayaking scheduled to open in the summer of 2024. We developed two 12-page cases for support brochures featuring renderings, stats, and benefits related to each of the four six-figure naming opportunities.
We created letterhead for each park, naming opportunity sheets, donor pledge forms, and Inaugural Friends of the Park mini-campaigns. We developed request and thank you letters, a donor database, talking points, website content, and a social media formula.
Now that fundraising is officially underway (November 2023), we support the city with newsletter content, donor identification, and correspondence while preparing a community-wide PR plan to celebrate the opening of Steward Street Park and significant enhancements to Hawks Nest. Once donors are secured, we will develop signage, a donor wall, and a celebration event.
It’s safe to say that with Hawks Nest & Steward Street, Hanahan’s got it all.
Our Work
Kim and her team have been just that. A breath of HOPE! We’ve been working with Kim and her team for quite some time now on a few projects, and I cannot begin to describe how phenomenal and engaged that Kim is with our projects. It’s the ultimate team effort and we absolutely could not have done it without her organization.
