When Camp Cole Co-Founder Margaret Deans Grantz serendipitously connected with Jovana Mullins, founder of the up-and-coming inclusive womenswear brand, Alivia, it didn't take long for the destined collaborators to corral K. Hope Creative for support.
Having worked with Camp Cole since the organization's inception in 2018, we've had the pleasure of navigating a variety of special opportunities with them; however, a fashion collab, fashion show, and national media pitch were new ones.
After learning the story behind the Camp Cole + Alivia connection and the inspiring similarities of their missions, we jumped fully on board to help the brands realize their dream of having their collaboration featured on national news.
If you’re new to KHC, Camp Cole is a camp and retreat center for children, teens, and adults facing life-threatening illnesses, living with disabilities, or facing a different kind of life challenge like homelessness or hunger. Alivia is an emerging NYC fashion brand that uses original artwork by people with disabilities to create colorful fabrics and embroidery for stylish women’s fashion.
For our part, we started by devising a game plan for a digital pitch kit, including developing a custom theme – Design & Shine – interviewing brand leaders, gathering art, photos, and quotes, and researching network producers and associate producers.
We developed a questionnaire for the four Columbia-based artists who inspired four of Alivia’s newest collections and began working on print and digital assets for a spring 2026 fashion show, including a sponsor packet, save-the-date, invitation, and signage.
After creating a Design & Shine digital pitch kit, followed by a promotional print piece and packaging essentials for what we hoped would become a media shipment, we began our slow dance with NBC, ABC, and CBS in October 2025. With a story as compelling as this one, it’s no wonder we heard back from TODAY, GMA, and CBS Mornings, plus NBC’s Jenna & Friends.
After several months of coordination, Zoom meetings, and interviews, NBC’s TODAY arrived in Columbia, SC, to interview Camp Cole Co-Founders Margaret Deans Grantz and Kelsey Carter, Alivia founder, Jovana Mullins, and the four phenomenal young female artists Kate Liggit, Lila Mozingo, Ann Mealing, and Liz Twitty, who were responsible for the art behind four of Alivia’s 2025-26 collections. The interview just happened to take place on the same day as the supremely orchestrated and wildly successful Design & Shine Fashion Show.
On May 19, 2026, a Design & Shine segment aired in the third hour of NBC’s TODAY, with Camp Cole, Alivia, the artists, and friends and family watching from the sidelines. It was a dream come true for everyone, including Catie Beth, Nick, and me.
Next up: Camp Cole and Alivia will launch an art & fashion camp in fall 2026.

It wouldn't have happened without you. Thank you for believing in us, pouring into every story, and helping make my dreams come true. You are incredible, and I appreciate you so much!
